Play Therapy
Play Therapy at F&T
At F&T, we specialise in providing Play Therapy for children aged 3 to 12. According to the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT), Play Therapy is defined as a dynamic process between the child and the Play Therapist. In this process, the child explores their issues—past and present, conscious and unconscious—at their own pace and on their own terms. This exploration is facilitated by a therapeutic alliance that helps activate the child's inner resources, promoting growth and change.
Why Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is child-centred, using play as the primary medium and speech as a secondary medium. It is particularly suited for children with complex and overwhelming emotions, whose cognitive and language development may not yet be mature enough to articulate their experiences verbally. Through play, children can experiment with, process, and master different skills and experiences. They form a sense of who they are, while learning to understand and interact with others.
