I’m Natalie, one of the Directors at Family and Therapy, and I take immense joy in serving as a BAPT Registered Play Therapist® dedicated to the well-being of children aged 3-12. Having earned my MSc in Play Therapy in 2021, my journey has spanned over 15 enriching years in early years settings, teaching, and schools, including both mainstream and behaviour specialist environments. My educational foundation is grounded in a degree in Early Years Education, complemented by a PGCE qualification.

My passion for Play Therapy blossomed during my tenure in a behaviour specialist school, propelling me to embrace a career committed to providing children with the opportunity to heal within a humanistic, child-centred, play-based environment. I am fuelled by dedication, support, and motivation, fostering an environment where children can navigate their emotional landscapes at their own pace.

My experience extends to working with children grappling with a spectrum of emotional issues rooted in diverse life experiences. Not only do I engage directly with children, but I also extend my support to parents. Through collaborative sessions, I help parents gain insights into their parenting styles and understand how their own childhood experiences impact their approach. This knowledge becomes a powerful tool for parents to adapt and enhance their children’s behaviour and needs.

In my practice, I prioritize confidentiality, safety, and a non-judgmental atmosphere. Employing the fundamental principles of Play Therapy, I create a nurturing space where children can explore themselves through the transformative power of play. This process unfolds naturally, allowing the child to instigate change using carefully selected toys, resources, and materials that aid in processing emotional difficulties.

Rest assured, I am fully insured, DBS checked, and a proud BAPT (British Association of Play Therapists) Registered member.

My Qualifications:

  • MSc Play Therapy (2021)
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) – Teaching (2006)
  • BA Hons Early Years Education (2005)

Continued Professional Development (CPD):

  • Theraplay – Level 1 (2020)
  • Trauma Play Advanced (2020)

My commitment to ongoing professional development ensures that I bring the latest insights and techniques to my practice, providing the best possible support to the children and families I work with.
